Updated: Sep 20, 2023

The Under 19 McDonald’s Female Country Championships are set to get underway on Tuesday September 26 until Thursday September 28 with matches being played in Maitland, Wallsend and Raymond Terrace. The competition will see a mixture of 40 over and T20 cricket in what will be a fantastic three days of cricket.

Following the restructure of Country Zones, the competition also sees the debut of new Zone Southern Districts in their first ever competition. Southern Zone delegate Gary Herd noted “the girls are ready to go, and I am sure we will spring a few surprises”.

Chair of the Zone Paddy Moylan agreed “It is an extremely exciting time for us as a new zone to field our first team. Our Under 19 female team are a seriously talented and impressive group. I have no doubt they will do themselves and the zone proud on and off the field. "

Spots will be also on the line for the Under 19 NSW Country team to play in the national championships.

Chair of Country Cricket, Paul Marjoribanks highlighted that nine of the current Breakers squad have come through these competitions. “These competitions have proved that they are the pathway to greater honours. Only three years ago Breakers and now Australian player Phoebe Litchfield was playing in them. I wish all players the best of luck." Marjoribanks said.
